Laura Robson

Community Health Programme Coordinator Community Health Programme Coordinator London, UK

Laura coordinates the Safidy community health programme as part of Blue Ventures' integrated Population-Health-Environment (PHE) approach. She is currently overseeing its expansion along Madagascar's southwest coastline, from Velondriake to the Belo sur Mer area, serving more than 20,000 people in 50 villages. She also works on supporting communications, monitoring and evaluation across the organisation.

Before joining the Blue Ventures team in January 2013, Laura worked on the southeast coast of Madagascar for two years, developing various community health projects for Azafady (a British charity and Malagasy NGO partnership) ranging from sexual, reproductive, maternal and child health to water, sanitation and hygiene. She is fluent in French and proficient in Malagasy, with a first class Geography degree from Cambridge University, and experience supporting the implementation of community health projects in Burkina Faso and Zambia.

"What makes working for Blue Ventures so special is being part of a dynamic, driven and interdisciplinary team combining rigorous research with practical action. My role focuses on two things I care passionately about - community health and Madagascar - and I also love being involved in the bigger picture of what we do - from sustainable fisheries management to marine conservation. It's hugely exciting to see our innovative models being taken to scale as others recognise their effectiveness."
