Working with Blue Ventures was the biggest professional challenge of my life, as well as one of the most rewarding. Living in such a remote, rural environment was a life-changing experience, and rarely a day goes by without me thinking of the community and environment of Andavadoaka.
The job was so varied: no day was the same, no expedition identical. I could be leading a dive before breakfast, wrestling with a logistical challenge in the morning, working with the women's association in the afternoon, and socialising with the volunteers and staff at night.
I met some wonderful people of all ages and nationalities, including the people from Andavadoaka itself. Professionally, I grew a lot as a manager, mentor and scuba diver, and learned a lot about marine conservation and community involvement. Be prepared to be stuck in from the moment you arrive and you'll get the most out of working for this great organisation.
