Reproductive health partners
Our reproductive health partners work with us to deliver community-based health education and voluntary family planning services to remote coastal communities along Madagascar's western coast as part of our integrated Population-Health-Environment (PHE) approach.
Madagascar Ministry of Health
Blue Ventures' community health programme is authorised and endorsed by the Madagascar Ministry of Health (Ministère de la Santé Publique), Regional Health Directors and District Medical Inspectors. We participate in quarterly coordination meetings organised by Regional Health Directors; these bring together Ministry of Health officials, local public health centre staff and various health agencies including Marie Stopes Madagascar and Population Services International with the aim of exchanging information about activities and harmonising service coverage.
Marie Stopes Madagascar (MSM)
Marie Stopes Madagascar (MSM) is a leading sexual and reproductive health service provider in Madagascar, with mobile outreach teams based in regional offices including Toliara and Morondava. MSM offers long-acting reversible contraceptives in the Velondriake and Belo sur Mer areas on a quarterly basis for the Safidy programme, with Blue Ventures providing the education needed to support demand and uptake of this service.

Helmsley Charitable Trust
The Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust is supporting the development of Blue Ventures' community health programme in the Velondriake and Belo sur Mer areas, in addition to the creation of a national Population-Health-Environment (PHE) consortium aiming to drive the adoption of this integrated conservation and development model across Madagascar.
CHASE Africa works with local partners in Kenya to enable women and families to choose the number and spacing of their children, and empower them to develop sustainable livelihoods. CHASE Africa's projects combine mobile health clinics with environmental education and tree-planting. We are supporting the development of their work by offering technical advice on integrated health-conservation education and family planning service delivery, and they are kindly providing us with funding to equip and train our community-based distributors of contraceptives to use smart phones for quality assurance and monitoring of health service delivery in Madagascar.
Duke Lemur Center
The Duke Lemur Center advances science and biological conservation through interdisciplinary research, community-based conservation and public outreach. In 2012, the Center established a conservation initiative in northeast Madagascar, called SAVA, which uses a multifaceted approach to promote environmental progress in areas suffering from rapid deforestation. In 2013, Blue Ventures supported Dr Erik Patel and the SAVA conservation initiative to start integrating voluntary family planning services into their programme, by establishing a new collaboration with Marie Stopes Madagascar. Blue Ventures is delighted to be providing ongoing support and technical advice to the Duke Lemur Center as they respond to the needs of their partner communities through this integrated Population-Health-Environment (PHE) approach.
#ogilvychange is a behavioural science approach that combines the gravitas of leading research in cognitive psychology and behavioural economics with the communication expertise of the Ogilvy group. It is working with some of the world's largest brands to change people’s minds and behaviour for the better. Blue Ventures' community health programme is receiving pro bono support from #ogilvychange to develop our sexual health behaviour change work in southwest Madagascar. This exciting collaboration has been facilitated by Pimp My Cause.
Woodrow Wilson Center
The Woodrow Wilson Center is the United States' key non-partisan policy forum for tackling global issues through independent research and open dialogue. Blue Ventures has strong links with the Center's Environmental Change and Security Program (ECSP), which explores the connections between the environment, human health and population dynamics by bringing together scholars, policy-makers, pracitioners and the media. Blue Ventures' community health programme and integrated Population-Health-Environment (PHE) approach have been featured in the Woodrow Wilson Center's events, publications, multimedia offerings (videos and podcasts) and New Security Beat blog.
Population and Sustainable Development Alliance (PSDA)
Blue Ventures is a member of the Population and Sustainable Development Alliance (PSDA), which exists to raise awareness about the connections between population dynamics, reproductive health and rights, the environment and sustainable development. PSDA seeks to promote and increase political and financial support for universal access to sexual and reproductive health and rights, and for its integration into wider policy and programme development as a means of increasing resilience, advancing environmental sustainability and improving human health and well-being. PSDA works to foster constructive and accurate dialogue among policy-makers and civil society about population dynamics, climate change and other sustainable development issues, and to counter misinformation or oversimplification of these complex but critical relationships.
Population Reference Bureau (PRB)
The Population Reference Bureau (PRB) informs people around the world about population, health and the environment, and empowers them to use that information to advance the well-being of current and future generations. Blue Ventures has strong links with PRB, and was recently featured in their multimedia presentation about Population-Health-Environment (PHE) programmes.
