Alongside hosting of the G8 summit in Gleneagles, 2005 saw Scotland host the World Youth Congress, an international conference aimed at promoting the role that young people can play in the field of sustainable development and the achievement of the UN's Millennium Development Goals.
The congress, held in Stirling, brought together 600 of the world’s most dynamic young activists in the field of sustainable development, from over 120 different countries, to discuss issues surrounding climate change, poverty alleviation, education, gender issues, and the Milennium Development Goals.
Blue Ventures team members Richard Nimmo and Kit Gillibrand worked with international delegates discussing BV’s work in Madagascar in a workshop entitled: Community centred conservation – roles of partnerships and social enterprise.
The workshop discussed the projects BV has developed in Madagascar and explored how other organisations and countries could benefit from lessons learned by BV’s partnerships.
