London, 10th November 2010. A record sixth year of recognition for the world’s most dynamic marine conservation organisation!
Winners of the Responsible Tourism Awards 2010 were announced today at a ceremony at World Travel Market in London, as part of World Responsible Tourism Day. Blue Ventures won the 2010 volunteer tourism category, with this year's win being a record sixth consecutive year of recognition for Blue Ventures, after having being highly commended for five years in a row.
Blue Ventures is one of this year’s12 finalists, selected from over 800 nominations worldwidefor its work in using social enterprise to drive sustainable community-based conservation initiatives.
BRUSSELS (September 13, 2010) – Today OCEAN2012, the pan-European campaign to stop overfishing in Europe, handed over 28,500 signatures to European Fisheries and Maritime Affairs Commissioner, Maria Damanaki, calling on her to prioritise the health of the marine environment in the reform of the European Union’s Common Fisheries Policy (CFP).
