James Martin 21st Century School Tropical Forest initiative
Short term and Sabbatical visitors
The ECI's new James Martin 21st Century School tropical forest initiative is being launched in 2009. We welcome applications from scholars interested in short and long-term sabbatical placements at the ECI. We welcome proposals from those working on forest governance and/or climate policy and in line with the centre's specific research themes outlined below.
ECI will provide desk space and administration support to visitors. We may also be able to help with financial contributions towards travel and accommodation in Oxford.
To apply for the sabbatical or visitor programme we will require the following:
- A CV outlining your current employment status
- A brief research proposal
- The duration and dates of your intended visit

Overseas Applicants
Overseas nationals from outside the European Economic Area (EEA) are subject to the Home Office immigration rules and require a Sponsored Researchers work permit to undertake a sabbatical. The University will apply for the work permit on your behalf, but you will need to apply for a UK entry/clearance visa in your home country and arrange for your biometric data to be collected prior to your arrival in the UK.
View further information about UK visa requirements. Please note, it is advisable not to make any travel arrangements until both the work permit and the entry visa have been arranged.
Further information about the Oxford Centre for Tropical Forests can be found in the ECI's 2008 review (pp34-35)
