Build a Community Eco-Lodge

Build a Community Eco Lodge

The southwestern coast of Madagascar is home to the third-largest continuous coral reef system in the world. Endangered sea turtles, humpback whales, spinner dolphins and more than 500 fish and coral species live the region’s ocean waters.

But damaging development, over-fishing, pollution and rapidly growing populations are threatening these resources and the people who rely upon them for survival.

Help protect these habitats by contributing to the construction of Madagascar’s first community-run eco-lodge completely powered by wind and solar energy.

For £20 you can help build the lodge which will be fully owned and operated by the community, providing a sustainable alternative to destructive fishing practices and an incentive to conserve the region’s natural beauty and resources.

Each gift includes:

  1. A brochure about the Andavadoaka eco-lodge and how it will help protect marine resources
  2. A fact sheet detailing Madagascar’s incredible marine resources
  3. A colour brochure about Madagascar’s Vezo people, known as the “people of the sea” for their strong cultural, economic and spiritual ties to the ocean’s waters
  4. A personalized colour certificate acknowledging their help in protecting threatened marine systems in Madagascar and the people who rely upon for survival

These items will be e-mailed to the person you designate to receive the gift.

With your help, the eco-lodge can ensure that the region’s culture and nature will survive for generations to come.
