Lison Garrel

Safidy (Community Health) Programme Coordinator Safidy (Community Health) Programme Coordinator Belo sur Mer, Madagascar

Lison is a qualified nurse with experience working in France, Mayotte, Reunion and Madagascar. She has a degree in Health and Social Sciences from the University of Montpellier, and conducted sexual health education workshops with youth as part of her studies.

In January-March 2013 she carried out a reproductive health needs assessment for Blue Ventures in the Belo sur Mer area. This research identified a significant unmet need for family planning services among the isolated coastal communities with whom Blue Ventures is already partnering on marine conservation and sustainable fisheries management in the region.

Lison started working for Blue Ventures in May 2013 to establish and run the Safidy community health programme in Belo sur Mer. This heralds the long-awaited replication of our integrated Population-Health-Environment (PHE) approach, originally pioneered further south along the coast in Velondriake.
