Florence, a French/American transplant from Texas, began working with Blue Ventures in early 2014 after finishing her MSc in Development Studies at the London School of Economics, where she focused on environmental and political economy issues. Whilst studying, she worked as a research assistant at the Overseas Development Institute, contributing to a number of projects dealing with the impacts of disasters on poverty. Previously, Florence was a research assistant for the Climate Change and Political Stability in Africa (CCAPS) project at the University of Texas.
Over the summer of 2013, Florence worked with a team of advisors commissioned by the UK Department for International Development (DFID) to design a national volunteer programme for social entrepreneurs. She enjoys working for a social enterprise that promotes sustainable natural resource management and looks forward to helping create a locally managed Marine Protected Area (MPA) in the Barren Isles.
