We are currently seeking a Diving Manager to oversee and teach diving at our marine conservation and research programme in Andavadoaka, southwest Madagascar. The position is voluntary, and for a minimum period of 6 months.

 A suitable candidate needs to be PADI OWSI and EFRI with experience of working in tropical coral habitats and of certifying students. Knowledge of compressors, 2 stroke boat engines and basic mechanics is necessary. A background in marine biology is helpful but not necessary.

The Diving Manager will train staff and expedition volunteers. They will be directly responsible for the control of stock and maintenance of diving equipment as well as enforcing diving protocols and safety whilst on site. Full diving and equipment records need to be kept and regularly reported to the UK.

The position is voluntary for a minimum of 6 months. The candidate will increase their number of certifications (both normal and speciality), their diving time and their knowledge of species within the Western Indian Ocean. They will also gain greatly from working with local peoples and scientists in training them to SCUBA dive.
