Solar stove and energy efficient stove programme
Blue Ventures Carbon Offset is currently working to provide Energy Efficient Stoves and Solar Stoves in Madagascar; helping to distribute stoves that either use less fuel or provide a renewable energy alternative. This involves distributing fuel-efficient stoves and solar stoves to villages, and providing a sustainable infrastructure for the continued local production and development of these stoves. Further detail on this programme can be found here:

Design Phase projects
Other community carbon offset projects that BVCO are developing include:
Mangrove protection in Madagascar
Mangroves are essential carbon stores. The southwest coast of Madagascar has extensive reserves, many of which are threatened by urban development and production. Protecting these areas will prevent carbon release, protect the habitat of many species, and ensure that a source of local building materials will still be available in the long-term.
Biogas digesters in Goa
Waste and energy is a large problem for communities along the coast of Goa. All settlements need to be dismantled annually to return the land to nature, and because of this not permanent sewage / energy structure can be made. Biogas digesters provide an option for both waste management and energy production that can be easily removed and set up again at a later date.
Ram pumps in East Brazil
Collecting / extracting water either requires a lot of hard work of a diesel generator to run. Ram pumps provide an energy free way of extracting water without the labour time or carbon emissions.
All of these are sustainable, community projects that are carefully monitored, and would not be able to proceed without BVCO funding. Review our methodology here.
