Kate is responsible for overseeing the development of Blue Ventures' blue forest projects in west and southwest Madagascar. She joined the team in August 2012. Her work includes conducting feasibility assessments, coordinating community engagement in planning and monitoring, developing blue forest carbon documents for project sites, and facilitating partnerships for mangrove forest ecosystem service conservation.

Kate graduated with an MSc in Conservation Biology from the University of Cape Town in 2010, where she studied the feasibility of conservation at an unprotected estuary in a coastal province of Kenya. She is passionate about implementing conservation plans with local communities based on sustainable, market-based incentives which contribute to coastal development and wetland conservation. She is also an avid birdwatcher and interested in the use of waterbirds as flagship species for coastal communities in Africa.
