Silvia has a degree in Political Science: Organization and Human Resources Management from the University of Milano, Italy and a Masters in Peace studies: Development Cooperation, Mediation and Conflict Transformation from the University of Pisa. She also has a professional qualification in Cultural and Linguistic Mediation.
She was a Member of the Association "Laboratorio di Pace" in solidarity with the Saharawi people (April 2010 – April 2013), where she was involved in planning of activities and volunteer task distribution during the summer program of reception of Saharawi children in Italy and also project development, networking and fundraising for the reinforcement of activities of the Guelta Youth Center in the refugee camp of El Aaiun. In April 2013 she took part in a 4 month European Volunteer Service experience in Peru, where she developed environmental education workshops with children in local schools. She has also worked in Italy with immigrants and has different work and volunteer experiences in education.
She has always been passionate of nature and marine environments and is interested in sustainability and environmental awareness building. She believes that human development is not possible without attention to the environment, and, on the other side, that conservation programmes must consider the cultural aspects of the community involved. She loves Latin America and is really looking forward to getting to know Belizean people and their unique culture!
